5 Steps to Help Discipline Your Dog: #3

Don’t take the process too seriously.

Taking discipline too seriously can create anxiety and stress for both you and your dog.
This doesn’t have to be taken so seriously, seriously!

Avoid letting yourself get embarrassed when your dog jumps up on guests or misbehaves around them. You should tell yourself, ‘I’m going to work on ‘place’ a little each day. Then I can give my dog the job of place when guests come over’. Feeling too serious or worried sends a signal to our sweet little floof and they feel the same way but in their own way. It is often the case that our worry turns into their anxiety about something they are uncertain about. We can help by getting centered and focused and above all positive in our thoughts and our interactions with them.
