Say good by to frustrating walks: Improve loose leash walking.
If teaching your dog to walk well on a loose leash is proving more than a little challenging, rest assured, you’re in the right place! Many pet parents report that their daily walks with their dog are more stress-inducing than stress-relieving, but thankfully, it doesn’t have to be that way. This three part process helps you to work on some techniques to get to a safer and more relaxed walking experience. Improve loose leash walking easily!
Part 1: Enforcement
1) Use a high rate of reinforcement: In the beginning, you should be using a really high rate of reinforcement when your dog walks with you, rewarding very often. This will encourage your dog to stay in the desired position. Similar to but unlike the photo below, give the treat while walking and while the leash is loose and the dog is in the correct walking position: next to and just behind.
Part two is coming next week!
